ICROA is a not-for-profit alliance of leading carbon reduction and offset companies.

The ICROA Independent Advisory Board (IAB) has been set up to provide advice and guidance on ICROA's policy and strategy. IAB members are experts in the voluntary carbon market who are not carbon reduction and offset providers. Representatives are serving in a personal capacity. The IAB will help ICROA adapt to the changing market and will help ensure that the ICROA Code of Best Practice remains relevant and an exemplar of best practice. The ICROA IAB is chaired by Alexia Kelly from the World Resources Institute.

Adam Markham

Clean Air Cool Planet

Before being appointed as Clean Air-Cool Planet's founding Executive Director in 2000, Adam directed the World Wildlife Fund's (WWF) international climate campaign, based in Washington DC. He has written and edited several books and scientific journal articles on climate and the environment. He was a contributing author to the forest impacts chapter of the 1995 IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report and contributed material to the US National Assessment report concerning climate change.

Joel Levin
Vice-President of Business Development
Climate Action Reserve

As the Climate Action Reserve's Vice President of Business Development, Joel Levin is responsible for strategic development of the Reserve and has overseen its development from inception to its current status as the recognized environmental standard for carbon offset projects in the United States. He is the Reserve's primary liaison to the business community and is a frequent and popular speaker on the Reserve's programs and other climate change topics. Joel has served as staff to the California Market Advisory Committee and the California Climate Action Team. Prior to working at the Reserve, Joel worked at Feeva Wireless in Berkeley and APX in Santa Clara. He has also served on the Capitol Hill staff of Senator Timothy E. Wirth (D-Colorado). Joel is a member of the Sierra Club's National Global Warming and Energy Committee and former chair of the Energy Committee in both the San Francisco Bay and Los Angeles Chapters of the Sierra Club. In these roles, he has been active in promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency as key elements in California's energy future. Joel holds an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley and an M.A. in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

Iain Watt

Iain heads Forum's work on climate change. He developed and maintains the Forum Climate Challenge, which outlines five essential characteristics of a credible corporate climate strategy and frames Forum's engagement with its partners on climate change. As well as advising partners on the risks and opportunities associated with climate change, he has authored Getting to Zero: Defining Corporate Carbon Neutrality, which explores a number of the claims of carbon or climate neutrality that have been made so far and makes a series of recommendations about what should lie behind any such declaration, and Making Sense of the Low Carbon Economy, which provides an accessible overview of the drivers behind the low carbon economy and explores the potential implications for business in the UK. Prior to joining Forum, Iain spent 7 years working at Ceres, a leading U.S. coalition of investment funds, environmental organisations and other public interest groups. Specialising in sustainability reporting and stakeholder engagement, he was heavily involved in writing the early versions of the Global Reporting Initiative's Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. Iain has a Master's degree in Environmental Science and Policy from Clark University, Worcester, Massachusetts and a BA in Geography from Oxford University.

Angelika Smuda
German Emissions Trading Authority

Angelika Smuda has worked for the German Emissions Trading Authority at the Federal Environment Agency since March 2007. She has been involved in the voluntary offsetting of emissions arising from official travel for the federal government and currently is responsible for the technical and scientific steering of a research project analyzing the German market for voluntary offsetting of greenhouse gas emissions. As part of the German Designated National Authority and Designated Focal Point she assesses and approves CDM and JI projects. The CDM was also the topic of her thesis finishing her studies of economics. Before joining the Federal Environment Agency she worked in the power industry.

Michael Gillenwater

Michael Gillenwater is a co-founder, Executive Director, and Dean of the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute. The Institute is a non-profit organization focused on training and professionalizing the community of experts that measure, account for, audit and manage greenhouse gas emissions. Michael is actively engaged in the training experts for the Kyoto Protocol and the UN Climate Change secretariat and supports the Clean Development Mechanism and Joint Implementation programs. He has been a lead author for the Nobel Peace Prize winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change since 1999, and is a core advisor on the WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol. While working for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, he co-established the U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Program, and served on the U.S. delegation to the UN climate change negotiations. Michael is currently completing a PhD in the Science, Technology and Environmental Policy Program at Princeton University, where his research focuses on the design of tradable environmental commodities, emission offsets, and compliance monitoring. He has a masters degrees in environmental engineering and public policy from MIT, was a Fulbright scholar to the United Kingdom, and a mechanical engineering bachelors from Texas A&M.

Lisa Hodes

Ms. Hodes leads the Gold Standard's strategy and operations in the U.S. Her primary responsibilities include driving policy discussions, assisting Gold Standard project developers and Gold Standard buyers and leading Gold Standard initiatives in the region. Ms. Hodes has a background in commercial and environmental law, which she earned from her time at Greenberg Traurig LLP and Sullivan & Worcester LLP. She brings a history of policy experience, legal expertise, and environmental stewardship to the Gold Standard Team.

Jasmine Hyman

Jasmine Hyman is the Director of Programs and Partnerships at the Gold Standard Foundation, where she oversees Gold Standard initiatives to boost demand for quality carbon offsets in Europe and the U.S. From 2001-2005, Jasmine worked on climate and sustainable agriculture issues at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. She was the head writer and correspondent for the International Year of Rice in 2004, where she wrote speeches for the Food and Agriculture Director General and varying representatives to ASEAN. Jasmine began her study of greenhouse gas emission markets in earnest while doing a Masters of Science at the London School of Economics in Environment and Development in 2005. She earned an honors B.A in Urban Studies at Columbia University in 2001. There, she received academic distinction for her thesis, "Recipe for a Green State" which examined the economic, social, and historic influences upon state-level environmental policies.

Mr Reinaud is President of Pro-Natura International. Mr Reinaud has a degree in Engineering and Physics from the Ecole Centrale of Paris and has completed the UK Government Cabinet Office Training Programme. Before becoming the president of Pro-Natura International, Mr Reinaud was with ICI between 1973 and 1992 and was President ICI-Sopra, President ICI-Belgium, President ICI-Francolor and Executive Director in the UK. Mr Reinaud was the European Chemical Industry Representative at the Rio Conference. Mr. Reinaud was the founder and president of Eco-Carbone. Mr Reinaud has been the President of Pro-Natura International since 1992. Mr. Reinaud is the vice-president of the French Fund for Nature & the Environment. Mr. Reinaud is also a member of the following boards: Vigeo, IUCN France, European Foundation for Sustainable Territories, and Greenfacts. Mr. Reinaud is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

Anja Kollmuss

Ms. Kollmuss works in the Climate and Energy Program at SEI focusing on national and international climate mitigation policy. She currently researches cap-and-trade and carbon offset programs. She has written several comprehensive reviews of offset programs and standards. She maintains the Carbon Offset Research and Education - CORE website. Ms. Kollmuss was a contributing author to the IPCCs Third Assessment Report were she researched the climate impacts of waste management. She has worked on researching and implementing low-carbon strategies for over 15 years and has extensive experience in energy-efficiency strategies for residential buildings.

Cameron Eren

Cameron Eren has extensive experience with Australian and International climate change policy and has worked closely with the commercial property, aviation, and freight transport sectors on strategies to reduce emissions. In 2007 Cameron authored a review of the Australian offset market which spurred government interest in the sector and provided the basis for the first independent review of Australian offset providers in late 2008. Cameron has taught Environmental Economics and Microeconomics at Macquarie University and is currently a Research Fellow with the Australia Institute where he focuses on climate policy.

David Antonioli,

Prior to joining the in VCSA in 2008, Mr. Antonioli worked for EcoSecurities, where he directed a joint venture that developed a portfolio of landfill gas to energy CEM projects worldwide and also led company's efforts in the voluntary sector. Prior to this, Mr. Antonioli worked for the US Agency for International Development as the Global Climate Change Advisor for Mexico.

Alexia Kelly is a Senior Associate in the World Resources Institute's (WRI) Climate and Energy Program. Alexia's work at WRI focuses on greenhouse gas emission markets and the role of greenhouse gas offsets in emerging climate change mitigation policy. In addition, Alexia serves on the faculty of the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute, where she co-developed and instructs a course on greenhouse gas project accounting. Prior to joining WRI Alexia was the Policy Program Manager at The Climate Trust, where she worked from 2006-2009, and also served as the Program Manager for the Offset Quality Initiative, a collaborative policy consortium of six leading non-profits in the GHG offset field.
